Provide an inclusive and engaging learning environment underpinned by evidence-based best practice.
Deliver high-quality Dzongkha language lessons that are age-appropriate, culturally relevant and aligned with curriculum expectations using transdisciplinary and conceptual approach.
Develop student listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in Dzongkha.
Promote appreciation of Bhutanese language, culture, values and identity through classroom learning and school activities.
Establish and maintain authentic, respectful and positive relationships with students, families and colleagues where social, cultural and religious diversity is valued.
Differentiate teaching and learning to cater for students with different levels of Dzongkha language exposure and learning needs.
Work collaboratively with class teachers, other language teachers, and other relevant teams to support student learning and wellbeing.
Attend and contribute to meetings as required.
Work collaboratively to create and review Individual Education Plans as required.
Maintain planning documents identifying specific learning objectives, differentiated tasks and assessments.
Monitor and document student progress.
Utilise technology, when applicable, to enhance student learning outcomes.
Organise and maintain a tidy, well-organised classroom and encourage students to take pride in their learning environment.
Be responsible for all aspects of classroom management, including supporting the academic, social and emotional needs of all students in a positive and pro-active manner.
Engage in professional dialogue and work collaboratively with colleagues, sharing expertise and respecting confidentiality.
Be an advocate for student wellbeing, supporting a culture of safeguarding and child protection, and reinforcing the school-wide commitment to keeping students safe. Be familiar with the Safeguarding reporting procedures and follow protocols in the case of a Child Protection Issue.
Reflect upon own professional practice to ensure an understanding of contemporary research and best practice.
Participate in Professional Learning and appraisal procedures for the purpose of personal, professional and career development.
Share in the management of pastoral care, health, welfare and behaviour of all students and in particular, those within your designated class group.
Carry out additional tasks as directed by the Principal.
Qualifications
Minimum Diploma or Bachelor Degree in Education, Dzongkha, Bhutanese language/literature or a related field from a recognised institution.
Recognised teaching qualification is preferred.
At least 2 years of relevant teaching experience, preferably in a primary or international school setting.
Strong spoken and written Dzongkha skills.
Good spoken and written English skills.
Strong classroom management, communication and interpersonal skills.
Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
Experience with inquiry-based learning, IPC or an international curriculum is an advantage.
